Miniature Oriental astrolabe. Scale significantly reduced (very complex instrument in this size could be used to learned its parts and basis of use. A real expert could play more). Set for 22º lat.

The name astrolabe comes from the Greek astro, meaning “star” and labio, which means “one who seeks”

This instrument is based on the eastern astrolabe now in the collection of the Adler Planetarium in Chicago made by the famous craftsman Diyal’al Din Muhammad in 1647. It is fashioned of brass and comes complete with booklets explaining its use and historical context.
