The sakura, or cherry blossom, bursts into a magnificent explosion of color each spring, before quickly falling, symbolizing the ephemeral beauty of life. According to Japanese culture, there is no greater glory for a samurai warrior than to fall in battle under a sky dotted with cherry blossoms. Our Spring Sakura katana embodies this powerful metaphor, combining tradition and refined aesthetics.
The 27" blade is forged from 5160 high carbon steel, offering a hardness of 57HRc and optimized geometry for precise and durable cuts, without risk of chipping or deformation, even on semi-hard targets. Its 1 ½" kissaki highlights the quality of the blade, reinforced by a blackened fuchi, a kashira and a stainless steel tsuba decorated with delicate cherry blossoms.
The wooden handle, adorned with a crimson tsuka-ito and covered with white ray skin, elegantly contrasts with the cherry blossom-shaped menuki ornaments, the serrated seppa, and the silver habaki. The black lacquered saya, equipped with a buffalo horn-rimmed koiguchi, a wooden kurikata, and a black sageo, completes this unique piece, combining symbolism and craftsmanship.
